June 11, 2013 by Abhay

Apple’s new operating system was released earlier today at the WWDC. The iOS 7 is the much awaited operating system which has changed the way you use your iPhone or iPad. A new and better look loaded with tons of new features. We wished that iOS 7 was announced with the iPhone 5, it would have given better sales to the company,

Many new things were announced at the WWDC 2013 held on June 10 ’13, these include –  OS X Mavericks, the new Mac Pro, iWork for iCloud, iOS 7, and iTunes Radio.

iOS 7 release date – 13 September 2013.

iOS 7 is supported on – iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, iPad Mini, and iPod Touch 5th generation or later. iPhone 3GS is now out of the league.

Check out these iOS 7 features:

1. Slide Up to Unlock and Lockscreen

The very old ‘Slide to Unlock’ has been replaced by the Slide up to unlock. The lock screen looks more beautiful and clutter free.

2. Control Center

One of the much awaited brand new iOS 7 features which gives you all the setting toggles at one place – Airplane mode, WiFi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, Orientation Lock, Music Controls, Volume Slider, AirDrop, AirPlay, Flash light, Timer, Calculator and Camera.

Just swipe up anywhere and get quick access to the control center. So we can think of giving up the jailbreak now.

3. Notification Center

The notification center has been completely redesigned and can now be accessed ever from the lock screen. You can check your messages, missed calls, events and notifications without unlocking your screen in the all new interface. Just swipe down and see what’s coming up for you.

4. App Switcher and Multitasking

The iOS is now much more smarter and keeps your apps ready for you whenever you need them. Closing apps is also very easy now, just double-press the home button and swipe up the application which you wish to close. Cydia’s Auxo now on your non-jailbroken device.

5. Camera

A faster and more useful camera with various switchable modes – still, video, panorama and square. Now you can even add filters, before or after clicking a picture, to give your photographs a beautiful touch. The complete interface has been redesigned and given a new look.

Photos app has also been updated with collections, moments and years, a smarter way of grouping your photographs.

Filters in the Camera app are available only on iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th gen. Filters in Photos are available on iPhone 4 or later, iPad 3rd gen or later, iPad mini, and iPod touch 5th gen.

6. AirDrop – Bluetooth and WiFi on your iPhone

AirDrop is a completely new iOS 7 feature which works using Bluetooth and WiFi and allows you to quickly and easily share photographs, videos, contacts and other application data by pressing the ‘Share’ button. It uses an encrypted and highly secure platform.

It is available only on iPhone 5, iPad 4th generation, iPad mini, and iPod touch 5th generation.

7. iTunes Radio

The all new iTunes Radio for your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC, and Apple TV for free.

iTunes also allows you to purchase songs which are playing on the radio by a single click. Apart from the featured stations, you may create your own stations and share them with your friends. Its functionality is similar to the Pandora Radio.

Currently, iTunes Radio is available on in the US.

8. Safari

Full screen internet surfing, smart search field, easy navigation, new tab selection and auto-fill with a password generator. Safari remembers all passwords for you and even suggests you strong passwords, while securing your privacy.

9. Siri

Siri gets a new, more humanly voice with audio waves. The faster Siri can now toggle settings, play last voice mail, returning calls, control iTunes Radio and ever search up Wikipedia or Bing for you.

10. AppStore

The AppStore gets a new ‘Apps Near Me’ feature, which suggests you a list of popular apps relevant to your location. Automatic updates are now enabled so that you don’t get any unnecessary notifications and red badges.

11. Activation Lock – Find My iPhone

A much needed security feature. If a device gets stolen and someone tries to wipe it, it wont get activated without the Apple ID and password which were used to erase the device. You can also display custom messages on your screen even if your device is stolen and wiped such that no one can sell your stolen iPhone and the person possessing it may return it back to you. Whenever you get back your iPhone, just enter you Apple ID and password to re-activate it.

12. iOS in The Car

Now integrate your iOS interface with your cars system. Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Chevy, Kia, Hyundai, and many others will be the first ones to start with this. It allows you to easily make phone calls, send and receive messages, control your music, get directions and use Siri from your built-in dash system. Siri will read out and type your message for you, so that you can focus safely on the road.ios7-in-the-car-siri
