WhatsApp Notification Issue [Solved]

2

May 20, 2018 by Abhay

WhatsApp had recently rolled out a new version of its iOS application – Version 2.18.52. A lot users had started facing a WhatsApp notification issue after this update.

The users were unable to see who had sent them a message without opening it. The WhatsApp notifications were blank and showed only the WhatsApp logo along with the text “Message”.

We had contacted the WhatsApp team about the WhatsApp notification issue and we received a prompt response from them. The notifications are working fine for us now. This was the reply which we received:

Thanks for your message.

You need to adjust settings on both WhatsApp and iPhone depending on what you’d like to be displayed in new message notifications.

To turn on previews that display both the contact name and message:

Go to WhatsApp > Settings > Notifications > turn Show Preview on.
Go to iPhone Settings > Notifications > WhatsApp > Show Previews > Always (Default) or When Unlocked.
To turn on previews that display the contact name but not message:

Go to WhatsApp > Settings > Notifications > turn Show Preview on.
Go to iPhone Settings > Notifications > WhatsApp > Show Previews > Never.
To turn off previews:

Go to WhatsApp > Settings > Notifications > turn Show Preview off.
Go to iPhone Settings > Notifications > WhatsApp.
Turn off Show on Lock Screen, Show in History and Show as Banners.
Tap Show Previews > Never.
Note: In iPhone Settings, Show Previews and the ability to see just the contact name in previews are only available on iOS 11+.

This worked for us quite well and we hope this solves your WhatsApp notification issue.
